Guests staying in one of Thailand’s luxury private villas can take their pick from an array of delectable breakfast options.

If you’re staying in a Thai private villa, you can ease into a blissfully lazy day with breakfast in bed

Everyone knows that breakfast is the most important meal of the day – whether you’re fuelling up for an exciting excursion ahead, or enjoying a lazy morning meal. For many people, a hectic morning routine doesn’t allow time to savour the flavours of a delicious morning meal. However, that isn’t the case when you’re on holiday – especially if you’re staying in one of Thailand’s exquisite private villas. Here, guests can choose from delightful options ranging from an indulgent morning feast following a run on the beach to a light snack before an in-villa spa appointment. That’s not to mention the choice of spaces where this meal can be eaten, including the sunny pool terrace, on the balcony overlooking the ocean, or even in bed, brought to you on a tray. We’ve rounded up a few of our favourite meal ideas for your stay in a private Thai villa, plus the best places for you to tuck in and enjoy.

Sweet tooth cravings

A selection of fresh croissants and Danish pastries is the ideal choice for those with a sweet tooth

If you’ve got a sweet tooth, then breakfast provides the perfect opportunity to start your day on a sweet note. For guests staying in a private villa whilst in Thailand, there are plenty of options. Islands like Phuket and Koh Samui are home to a surprising number of excellent patisseries and bakeries, which means it’s easy for the team at your villa to source all of your favourite pastries for breakfast. Buttery croissants, melt-in-the-mouth pain au chocolate and delightful Danish pastries are all available, and guests will be able to take their pick depending on what tickles their fancy.

Of course, pastries offer an indulgent kind of breakfast, which is often best paired with an equally indulgent setting. If you’re keen to kick start a lazy day in style, why not have your villa’s staff bring a selection of pastries to your bedroom on a tray? Alternatively, you could nibble on your croissant whilst sitting at the table on your bedroom’s private balcony, surveying the spectacular ocean views. For kids with sweet tooth cravings, the private villa’s chef would be more than happy to whip up pancakes drizzled with honey and chocolate, although these are probably best enjoyed at the kitchen table!

The full works

If you’re feeling ravenous, only a cooked breakfast with all the trimmings will do

If you wake up feeling hungry, then it’s likely that only one meal is going to hit the spot – a hot breakfast, with bacon, eggs, sausages and all the other essential trimmings. Of course, cooked breakfasts come in many forms, so let your villa’s team of staff know exactly what you’d like to see on your plate and how you’d like it cooked. For example, you’ll be able to choose whether you want your eggs boiled, poached, scrambled, or fried. To enjoy this big meal to the max, ask your villa’s staff to serve if buffet-style in the dining room. That way, everyone can help themselves to as much as they like.

However, if you’re in the mood for something a little different, you’re in the perfect place to try a traditional Thai cooked breakfast. A popular option amongst locals is joke – a thick, rice-based porridge similar to congee with toppings including spring onions, ginger, meat and eggs.

Bursting with flavour

A fresh fruit salad is the ideal choice if you’re in the mood for a lighter meal

Thanks to its tropical climate, Thailand produces plenty of delicious fruits. The glorious selection available at your local Thai market will include some fruits you’re already familiar with – pineapple, watermelon, mango and passion fruit. However, there will also be some quirkier options, including papaya, rambutan, mangosteen and dragon fruit. That’s why a tasty fruit salad is the perfect choice if you’re in the mood for a light, healthy breakfast at your private villa. In addition to tasting fantastic, a fruit salad will pack in a couple of your essential five fruits and veggies a day before you even get to 10 a.m., so you’re onto a win-win.

If you do decide to indulge in a taste of Thailand’s exotic flavours for your first meal of the day, what better setting to enjoy your meal than overlooking your villa’s tropical gardens? Many properties in Koh Samui and Phuket come with a selection of outdoor dining areas, ranging from covered wooden pavilions to al fresco seating areas on pool terraces overlooking the ocean.

Your morning brew

For many people, a caffeinated pick-me-up is an essential part of any morning routine

If you rely on a caffeine pick-me-up to start your day, there’s a number of options at your private villa. Many properties come with their own coffee brewing machines, so you can enjoy a barista-quality brew without even having to leave the house. In many cases, a selection of flavour infusions is also available depending on what you’re in the mood for, including vanilla, caramel and cinnamon.

If java isn’t your morning brew of choice, there’s an array of alternative options. A selection of teas, ranging from classic English breakfast to fragrant herbal infusions are commonly available. On the other hand, you might prefer a freshly squeezed glass of juice.

If you’re a true caffeine fiend, you might prefer a member of your villa’s staff to bring your morning cup of coffee to your bedroom as a wake-up call. On the other hand, it might be your morning routine to flick through the newspaper with a cup of coffee whilst relaxing at your private kitchen’s breakfast bar.

Feast for the eyes

As well as being a feast for the taste buds, an exquisitely-prepared breakfast in your private villa will be a feast for the eyes

No matter the time of day, dining in your private villa is sure to be a wow factor experience that delights the taste buds. However, the attention to detail when it comes to the presentation of food is another element that makes eating at your Thai private villa so special. Each villa’s professional on-site chef puts a great deal of thought into the presentation of each meal, too, right down to the exquisitely carved pieces of fruit being served in your breakfast fruit salad. This is a distinct advantage if you’re having guests over for breakfast or brunch, as you can be confident that this meal will have the same wow factor to match any nearby restaurant or café.

If you want to work up an appetite before breakfast, there are plenty of exercise opportunities in your private villa.

  • As well as offering a peaceful start to the day, swimming a few laps in your private villa’s infinity pool will do wonders for boosting your appetite.
  • A workout in your private villa’s gym will burn a tonne of calories prior to your morning meal, which means you can afford a tasty splurge.
  • If your villa benefits from a position right on the beach, then a 15-minute stroll along the sand will be sure to make you hungry enough for breakfast.
