Nature parks are a great way to enjoy the tropical surroundings on Phuket while keeping the kids entertained at the same time. A trip to Bang Pae waterfall passes dramatic forested mountains, with shallow streams running by that offer the perfect place for kids to splash about. Kathu and Ton Sai waterfalls are also popular spots for families thanks to their natural swimming holes.
Animal shows, zoos and aquariums are also ideal for visitors with children. The Phuket Zoo may seem a little old fashioned by western standards, but there are crocodile, elephant and snake shows throughout the day to keep the kids engaged. More ecologically sound, perhaps is the Phuket Marine Biological Centre, which provides a fascinating insight into local marine life, the tanks alive with brightly coloured fish. The Phuket Aquarium features an underwater glass tunnel, where visitors can stand in awe and gaze at the sharks and stingrays floating above them. For more adventurous children go carting, ATV rides, and horse riding can all be enjoyed on Phuket and at Dino Park in Kata, there's a mini-golf course that winds through a mock Jurassic Park with dinosaurs and even an active volcano. For yet more thrills, Phuket FantaSea theme park has rides and nightly performances with music, acrobatics and magic shows.
