The lookout has all the right ingredients to make it one of Samui’s best value-for-money villa rental properties. Firstly, it’s in a convenient location only a short distance from the main port town of Nathon and within a short drive from the many restaurants and resort areas on the island. There are three double bedrooms, a fully fitted kitchen, an outdoor sala with separate kitchen, Jacuzzi bathtubs, a private swimming pool, a dedicated audio/visual room and, to top it all off, a truly spectacular sea view.
The property is completely hidden from the main road and sits on a forested mountainside overlooking the untouched mountains below and out across the ocean to Koh Phangan. The tree lined road leads up to the villa without giving any indication of what lies ahead.
The villa has an elegant wooden-gated covered entrance and a pathway leading past an ornamental pond with a central water fountain feature and steps lead up to the main property entrance. To the right of this is a covered walkway leading to the carport area and separate driveway.
Two solid wooden doors open to reveal a dramatic hallway with steps leading down into the living area and separate staircases on either side sweeping up to the next level. Directly in front of you is the main feature of this villa, the panoramic ocean view.
As you descend the stairs the room opens out into a spacious living area, the whole of which is fronted with glass doors so that the view remains the main focus of your attention.
To the left is a very stylish bamboo-inlaid dining table, and water hyacinth chairs, which comfortably sits six diners. Set behind the dining area is an outstanding modern kitchen with white-gloss units topped with contrasting granite surfaces. All necessary appliances are built-in and there’s a central island feature which house the gas hob and also doubles as a breakfast bar with two futuristic white bar stools.
To the right of the stairs is the lounge. In here you’ll find some tasteful furniture on which to relax and enjoy the view. Like the rest of the house this room has been accessorised with a blend of contemporary and more traditionally Asian ornaments and artworks.
Beyond the lounge is a guest bathroom and in front of that is the dedicated AV room. A projector and screen are housed in a tastefully decorated space with coloured lily pad oil paintings and comfortable furniture. The room is completed with blackout blinds and curtains making it the perfect room for movie watching or playing games day or night.
Being a tropical island blessed with an exceptional all-year warm climate, Samui villas tend to incorporate the outside space as much as the indoor areas, and at The Lookout the outdoor space is the perfect area for relaxing and catching the sun in private, for intimate outdoor dining, and also for entertaining guests.
The property has a large terrace between the villa and the blue-tiled infinity swimming pool. To the left of the terrace there’s a seating area and the outdoor shower with wooden privacy screening. And, to the left of the pool is the most used area of the home; a large, covered sala with comfortable day beds and a kitchen with an island feature and built-in barbecue. There’s also a sink and an outdoor fridge removing the need to go inside at all.
When you do go back inside, you can take either staircase to get to the next living level. Looking towards the entrance of the property, if you take the stairs on the right you arrive in a sizeable landing area with an ornate Thai-style cabinet and Buddha image in one corner and a simple but tasteful desk and chair. From here you enter the cheerfully decorated twin bedroom with teak and bamboo beds sat in front of a beautiful painting of tropical foliage. The colour scheme in here is of blues, greens and turquoise giving a light and airy atmosphere.
There are built-in wardrobes and an intricately carved redwood cabinet with a red and gold Thai ornament on top. A door from here leads to the bathroom which connects this and another twin room. The bathroom has twin sinks set into a granite surface with wooden storage cupboards below, a large Jacuzzi bathtub sat in front of a viewpoint low window and a walk-in shower.
The adjoining bedroom is a mirror of the first one and the door from here leads out onto the opposite landing area which is adorned with antique looking Asian artefacts and some very eye-catching artwork, especially a contemporary painting of an elegant Asian lady and an elephant carving.
This landing wraps around the second bedroom and leads to another corridor with a rug taking up the entire floor space. At the end of the corridor a door opens into the exquisite master-suite.
The first thing you notice is the heavy wooden four-poster bed with white drapes, which dominates the main room. The majestic bed faces the viewpoint balcony and the glass doors which lead outside.
Back inside the room there’s a walk-in dressing area and two doors into the luxury en-suite bathroom. Another indulgent Jacuzzi tub is accompanied by a walk-in shower and twin sinks.
This exceptional property is a good size with lots of communal and private space available, making it ideal for either one couple or even three couples or families to share the accommodation comfortably. It’s location benefits from one of Samui’s most impressive sea views and it’s all available at a cost which is comparable with an average hotel room.
But it doesn’t end there. Included at this property there’s a live-in maid, and a driver and car to collect you from the airport and to help you get around the island and see everything that Samui has to offer.
This villa really does represent an idyllic holiday experience, in a private and tranquil setting, with the kind of facilities and services usually associated with much higher priced accommodation.
